The pain management specialists at the Pain Institute of Long Island have decades of combined experience.  We are quite comfortable with the latest technological tools as well as proven methods that have been continually refined over the years.  We are uniquely positioned to help relieve the chronic discomfort that’s holding you back.

What is Kyphoplasty?

Kyhoplasty is a minimally invasive out patient procedure which repairs a vertebral compression fracture and helps restore the spines natural shape.  Our patients are offered light sedation for comfort during this procedure.

Kyphoplasty is basically a two-step process.  First, our specialists place a tiny inflatable balloon into a fractured vertebrae. Once it’s inflated, the balloon restores the fractured vertebrae to its original height.  Next, our pain management physician slowly injects a specialized bone cement that seals the fracture.

Most patients experience rapid pain relief after the procedure and are quickly able to return to their normal daily activities.

Who is a Good Candidate for Kyphoplasty?

Patients with acute back pain that have been diagnosed with a new compression fracture on MRI or CT scan may benefit greatly from Kyphoplasty.

A successful kyphoplasty can truly be a life changing event.
